BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Collaborate | Innovate | Engage
Our vision
Canadians are increasingly aware, engaged and contributing as global citizens to key global issues as a result of effective public engagement by civil society organizations who are committed to their own learning and development, knowledge-sharing and collaboration, as well as communicating the results of their work.
Public Engagement (PE) is integral to development work. Since 2012, the ICN has been a leader in advancing this principle, resulting in increased awareness and policy on PE by those working on global poverty issues. This includes conducting research on Canadian public engagement, the creation of a public engagement resource base (the Global Hive ToolKit and Hive Mind), as well as an online national training program on public engagement, which has seen the interest of 400 individuals. Building on the momentum of the May 2017 PE Knowledge Exchange, the Global Hive Toolkit and Hive Mind, and the ICN’s online course on public engagement, the forum seeks to amplify the impact of these and other PE efforts for global sustainable development in Canada.
