In this week’s episode, we explore SDG 17 Partnerships for the Goals, and community support in addressing environmental conservation with our guest Chris Rider, Executive director of Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS), Yukon Chapter.

Chris Rider | Executive Director, CPAWS Yukon

Chris has served as the Executive Director of CPAWS Yukon since March 2016. He has a passion for nature and feels privileged to be able to help protect it for future generations. He recognizes that conservation can only be successful when it’s done in a good way, together with First Nations, Inuit and Metis people.

A native of Australia, Chris has lived in Whitehorse since 2012 and previously worked as Executive Director of BYTE – Empowering Youth Society, an organization that works with youth in the Yukon’s First Nations communities. Chris has a Masters Degree in Commerce (International Business) from Swinburne University in Melbourne and has worked in non-profit management since 2008. Chris is friend to a black and white dog called Hutch, who comes to work at the CPAWS office most days.

In his spare time, Chris loves the outdoors and likes to get out backpacking and paddling in the Yukon’s wild spaces. He also loves Leeds United, a football (soccer) team, and the Vancouver Canucks.
