Global Solidarity in the Digital Era

Global solidarity in the digital era poster
This two-part series on digital technologies and international solidarity brought to you by the Inter-Council Network of Provincial and Regional Councils for International Cooperation explores the effects of rapidly evolving digital technologies on international solidarity. Global solidarity is fundamentally important at a time of precarity and crises. In an increasingly networked world, technologies play an immense role in global solidarity. They provide the tools to organize and advocate around decolonization, anti-racism, feminisms and other equity-seeking projects. Paradoxically, these tools can both facilitate and threaten this work. This webinar examines such complexities and provides insights around the ethical use of digital tools in solidarity work. The first session (October 5, 2023) will feature experts who will broadly reflect on what changing digital landscape means for international solidarity work more broadly. The second session (October 11, 2023), focusing specifically on communications, will feature experts who will explore ethical communications in international solidarity work in the age of evolving technologies.
Join us as we host a webinar on Thursday, October 5th at 2:30 PM Atlantic (1 PM Eastern / 10 AM Pacific Time) to explore international solidarity in the context of an evolving digital technology landscape. This webinar casts a critical lens on the recent developments in digital tools and the implication on solidarity work. Experts will reflect on these emerging issues and highlight some key aspects pertinent to ethical practices in the use of digital tools in international solidarity. They will also offer some key recommendations for practice and policy.
This webinar convenes experts working on communications within the international solidarity space to reflect on the possibilities and challenges that arise with evolving digital technologies. Drawing on decolonial, anti-racist and feminist principles and practices, they will critically discuss the effects of emerging digital tools on communications for and in international solidarity. They will also offer insights on how these tools can inform the processes and the people engaged in solidarity work. Join us on Wednesday, October 11th 2:30 PM Atlantic (1 PM Eastern / 10 AM Pacific Time) to explore ethical practices in communications for international solidarity.
