We are pleased to share Designing a better system for SMOs: Lessons learned from the call for preliminary proposals for small and medium-sized organizations for impact and innovation.
In December 2018, the Inter-Council Network of Provincial and Regional Councils for International Cooperation (ICN) and the Canadian Council for International Co-operation (CCIC) conducted a survey to gather feedback on the first call for preliminary proposals for small and medium-sized organizations (SMOs), launched by Global Affairs Canada on November 28th, 2017. This call was launched as part of a five-year pilot initiative that seeks to engage Canadian SMOs in international assistance efforts in areas consistent with Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy. One hundred and ninety-six small and medium-sized organizations applied, indicating the great interest and demand for financing for the sector.
The survey was of SMOs who considered applying or applied to this call for preliminary proposals, to gather feedback on the process-to date. One hundred and sixteen SMOs completed the survey. The following report presents the results of the survey, and offers concrete recommendations for upcoming calls
