Episode 1: Empowering Women through Vocational Training

The gender gap in trades is real and the industry can benefit from more women in the field as it would provide a key role in the adjustment of labor supply to meet market demands. On this week’s episode, we discuss SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities with Nour Hamayel, a gender and inclusion officer at The Lutheran World Federation who is leading the Gender-Responsive and Inclusive Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) – a program to improve education, training and employment for Palestinian women in non-traditional fields.

Nour Hamayel

Nour Hamayel is the Gender and Inclusion officer at the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) – GRIT project located in Ramallah, Palestinian Territories. Before joining the GRIT team, Nour worked for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) supporting the economic empowerment of Palestinian women and youth. She then pursued her Master’s degree in international political theory at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. Nour is very passionate about women’s rights and is committed to empowering Palestinian women to realize their rights and build their resilience.
